Anthropic has warned in its IPO prospectus that advanced AI could pose catastrophic or existential risks to humanity, according to Reuters and the Financial Times, as the company prepares for a potential $2.0 trillion flotation.
The warning is reported to be part of a broader risk section in the prospectus, with about 80 pages of the 261-page main body devoted to risk factors.
The prospectus has not yet been made public, but it is said to describe how AI models could exhibit self-preserving behaviors.
The disclosure comes after Anthropic called for a slowdown in the rapid development of the technology, a caution that was echoed by rivals, according to the reports cited by Guardian Business.
