OpenAI fires three researchers for mishandling sensitive information
OpenAI has fired three researchers for allegedly mishandling sensitive information, including work connected to an external organization that analyzes AI models, according to the BBC.
In an investigation, OpenAI said it found the individuals violated established company procedures for accessing and handling sensitive information, breaching company policies and trust.
The BBC reports that at least two of those fired were involved in safety research, and that the firings were not tied to raising safety concerns but to alleged mishandling of sensitive data.
The BBC also notes the decision comes amid intensified debate over AI safety and calls for additional guardrails around the technology.
