Russia says tests found no plague link to Siberian lab death

About 189 people remain under medical observation during a three-week quarantine window that runs into late October, according to the update.

Russia’s health watchdog said tests on a Siberian anti-plague lab worker who died of unexplained pneumonia found no link to microbes she handled, despite reports citing a broken plague test tube, Forexlive reports.

The outlet said about 189 people remain under medical observation and that markets are unlikely to react unless the situation escalates beyond those contacts.

Forexlive added that officials insist there is no outbreak, with the key risk being confirmation of plague and any secondary cases among the people being observed.

The update also noted the three-week observation window ending in late October as the point where the scare could either fade or intensify, with local industry flagged as the most exposed channel.
