Amazon replaces budget Fire tablet with higher priced Alexa model

Amazon said the Alexa tablet upgrade includes faster performance, AI features, and a redesigned device that supports a higher price.

Amazon is updating its aging tablet lineup by moving away from its budget Fire tablet and replacing it with a higher priced Alexa tablet.

The company said the Alexa tablet’s improved speed and performance, along with added artificial intelligence features and an upgraded design, are behind the change in pricing.

CNBC Markets reports that Amazon positioned the new model around those device improvements rather than keeping the previous lower tier option.
