Personal down-payment gift dispute raises questions about home ownership

MarketWatch describes a scenario where a homeowner says an aunt contributed $50,000 toward a $385,000 house purchase.

The reporting says the buyer was able to close using the home cost, their own savings, the aunt’s $50,000, and a small mortgage.

The story also says the aunt later wants the homeowner to leave the home so it can go to her two children.
