PepsiCo shares fall after snack price cuts fail to lift volumes

PepsiCo said its North America snack volume was flat despite a second straight quarter of price cuts, and beverages remained a problem.

PepsiCo shares fell in early Thursday trading after the beverage and snack company posted a fiscal second-quarter profit and revenue that beat expectations, but did not raise its full-year outlook, according to MarketWatch.

While international business strength helped drive the earnings beat, MarketWatch reported that North America snacks saw flat volume despite a second consecutive quarter of price cuts.

MarketWatch also said PepsiCo’s beverages business continued to lag, contributing to investor concern even after the quarterly results surpassed forecasts.
