Chinese student leaves US$2.9 million estate to childhood friend

The 19-year-old, from Shanghai, notarized a will covering a flat and millions of yuan in savings and said he wants neither parent’s spouse to inherit if he dies.

A 19-year-old student in Shanghai has notarized a will that would leave his personal wealth valued at 20 million yuan, about US$2.9 million, to his childhood friend, according to SCMP Economy.

The student, surnamed Li, said the will includes property under his name, including a flat and savings of millions of yuan.

Li also said his parents divorced and remarried, and that he does not want his parents’ spouses, whom he described as strangers, to inherit his property if something were to happen to him.
