Revised Clarity Act draft could circulate this week as talks continue

The updated bill is expected to merge versions from two Senate committees and add about 70 pages, but it still may not be ready for a vote.

CoinDesk reports that multiple sources familiar with Clarity Act discussions say lawmakers plan to release an updated draft of the crypto market structure bill this week, after negotiations between the Senate Banking and Agriculture panels.

The new text would combine provisions from bills that previously advanced out of those committees, and is expected to add roughly 70 additional pages. As of press time, sources say the draft is not expected to include an ethics provision or agreements on several remaining contentious issues, leaving it short of being ready for a vote.

CoinDesk also notes that time remains tight for the bill to move through Congress and reach the president for signature in 2026. Senate Majority Leader John Thune previously indicated willingness to bring the bill to a floor vote in July, with rumors pointing to the weeks of July 20 or July 27.

If a vote is scheduled, CoinDesk reports that leadership will likely seek at least 60 Senate votes, which would require support from at least seven Democrats, suggesting a high bar for passage even if the draft does circulate.
