SEC quorum rule change could ease updates to crypto regulation
Cointelegraph says the move comes after lawmakers failed to pass a comprehensive digital asset market structure bill, leaving regulators to adjust oversight and enforcement.
Cointelegraph reports that a change in the SEC’s rules on quorum could make it easier for the agency to amend its approach to crypto regulation even without a passed market structure bill.
The outlet says that after US lawmakers failed to approve a comprehensive digital asset market structure bill, regulators stepped up efforts to change rules governing oversight and enforcement of crypto companies and offerings.
Cointelegraph adds that it is concerned the SEC and CFTC are understaffed at the leadership level, with decisions affecting much of the $3 trillion crypto market landing largely with three individuals, two of whom were nominated by US President.
