AIG names Sameer Mir reinsurance manager for GCC and North Africa
Mir, who has been with AIG for nearly 16 years, moves from a commercial property underwriter role in Dubai to support AIG’s reinsurance activities across the region.
American International Group has promoted Sameer Mir to Reinsurance Manager for the GCC and North Africa, according to Reinsurance News.
The appointment follows nearly 16 years with AIG, where Mir held underwriting, business development, and client-facing roles across Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, with experience tied to commercial insurance operations, portfolio management, and regional market development.
Before the promotion, Mir served as Commercial Property Senior Underwriter at AIG MEA Limited in Dubai, managing renewal portfolios, developing new business opportunities, and supporting underwriting performance. His responsibilities included portfolio analysis and facultative reinsurance placements, along with underwriting compliance, client engagement, and coordination with internal teams covering risk engineering, claims, and finance.
In his new position, Mir will support AIG’s reinsurance activities across the GCC and North Africa, drawing on his underwriting expertise and familiarity with regional markets.
