Iran says it will not carry out ceasefire terms while the US does not
Iran foreign ministry comments underscore a fresh reset in talks, with the Strait of Hormuz risk returning to conflict-era levels and keeping markets on edge.
Iran’s foreign ministry said Iran will not execute its commitments under a memorandum of understanding as long as the United States is not fulfilling its own commitments, according to Forexlive. The statements kept the blame cycle going, with both sides claiming the other is violating the ceasefire framework.
The outlet said the renewed dispute points to a breakdown in communication between the countries and effectively marks a reset to the situation that existed before the memorandum was signed about three weeks ago.
Forexlive also highlighted that the Strait of Hormuz situation has been reset as well, returning to what it was during the height of the conflict. The outlet noted that while talks remain possible, they do not appear imminent.
The story added that major differences between the US and Iran on nuclear and uranium positions would likely make any resolution difficult in the near term, and described the latest steps as consistent with Iran seeking to delay progress while testing US patience.
