Judge cites improper purpose in Trump lawsuit against IRS

The Justice Department settled the case by agreeing to create a $1.8 billion lawfare fund, which was later scrapped.

A judge dismissed key aspects of Donald Trump’s lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service, saying the case was brought for an improper purpose, according to CNBC Markets.

The outlet reports the Justice Department reached a settlement with Trump in which it agreed to create a $1.8 billion “lawfare” fund, an arrangement that has since been scrapped.

CNBC Markets also said the judge referred Trump’s lawyer to the bar as part of the court’s handling of the matter.
