Bunge signs deal to supply soybean oil for Brazil SAF and HVO plant
The five-year agreement calls for 300,000 tonnes of certified soybean oil annually starting when Acelen Renewables begins operations in 2029.
World Grain reports that Bunge Global SA has signed a five-year agreement with Acelen Renewables to supply 300,000 tonnes of certified soybean oil each year for a planned biorefinery in Bahia, Brazil.
The supply is intended to support the start of operations in 2029, with Acelen Renewables describing the project as the first large-scale sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel production in South America.
The soybean oil raw material may come from Brazil and Argentina, and it must carry certifications from the US Environmental Protection Agency and California Air Resources Board to ensure traceability and compliance with international sustainability standards.
World Grain also notes that Acelen Renewables, a renewable energy unit of Mubadala Capital, said the biorefinery is expected to involve more than $3 billion in investments, with an initial integrated production unit targeting 1 billion liters of SAF and HVO annually.
