Home prices are cooling, but affordability remains out of reach
Despite slower price growth, incomes have not caught up enough for typical buyers to regain affordability, according to MarketWatch.
Home prices have risen sharply over the past five years, though growth has slowed more recently, MarketWatch reports.
The article says home prices are now climbing at a slower pace than during the earlier surge, but wages have not kept up.
As a result, affordability continues to lag for many potential buyers, even as the rate of price increases moderates, MarketWatch adds.
