Jensten Group to acquire Kelvin Smith Insurance in Glasgow

The planned deal would bring Kelvin Smiths roughly 30 employees and a client base of more than 3,000, along with £22 million in gross written premium, into Jenstens Scotland expansion plan.

Jensten Group has agreed to acquire Glasgow-based broker Kelvin Smith Insurance, subject to regulatory approval, as part of its strategy to expand its regional presence across Scotland, according to Reinsurance News.

Jensten said the acquisition will add about 30 employees, an established Glasgow office, and a portfolio of more than 3,000 clients. Kelvin Smith Insurance, founded in 1982, manages £22 million in gross written premium, with its focus including commercial insurance, fleet risks, and SME clients, as well as specialist personal lines for high-net-worth individuals.

The transaction also bolsters Jenstens recently formed Scotland region, which has been built through earlier acquisitions of Broker One and NC Stirling. Jensten said combining the three businesses will increase regional capabilities by bringing local knowledge, experienced teams, and established client relationships under a single Scottish operation.

Jensten executives described the deal as a milestone for scaling and building capability in the region. Stephen Travers, Kelvin Smith Insurance managing director, said joining Jensten creates an opportunity to grow further within Scotland, while Robin Thomson, Jenstens managing director, said Kelvin Smith addition provides momentum for sustainable regional growth.
