Midwest Employers Casualty chief claims ops manager recognized for risk work
The cross-functional effort improved how complex program information is organized and validated, using tools like an exception dashboard to spot inconsistencies earlier.
Midwest Employers Casualty, a member of W. R. Berkley Corporation, has been recognized through Risk & Insurance’s 2026 Risk All Stars for work tied to strengthening its operational risk management framework, according to the publication.
Risk & Insurance said Paul Roderick, manager of claims operations, led a cross-functional effort focused on improving visibility, consistency, and governance across complex data processes that connect policy administration and underwriting, claims operations, and reporting needs.
The outlet described a multi-pronged strategy centered on consistency, governance, automation, and knowledge sharing, including development of an exception dashboard to identify data inconsistencies earlier, support for more structured data intake, and advances in automated integration.
Risk & Insurance added that the work reduced manual effort, improved consistency across teams, and helped formalize technical documentation to keep important knowledge maintainable for the future, reinforcing MEC’s operational risk management approach.
