Single-stock ETFs and leveraged funds take speculative spotlight

CNBC notes one explanation for weaker call-buying is that the rise of single-stock ETFs and leveraged funds has pulled demand away from options.

CNBC Markets says trading in SK Hynix options has started, but call-buying activity has not shown the same level of attention as some other names.

The outlet points to a shift in where speculative interest is showing up, arguing that the surge in single-stock ETFs and leveraged funds has taken a large share of the speculative limelight.

The result is that options buying, including call activity, is less notable than it might have been if that flow had remained focused on individual stocks through derivatives.
