Carnival sees unusually active Nov. 20 $27 put as traders bet bearish

The put had a 33.2 volume-to-open-interest ratio, while Carnival’s options volume jumped 77% above its 30-day average.

Carnival Corp shares were in focus in the options market as traders piled into the Nov. 20 $27 put, the most unusually active option tied to the stock during the final trading day of July, according to Yahoo Finance.

The Nov. 20 $27 put showed a volume-to-open-interest ratio of 33.23, with Yahoo Finance also noting that only a single option across the screen had a Vol/OI ratio above 100. The outlet linked the interest in puts to macro risks it cited, including the war in Iran and ongoing fuel price volatility.

Carnival also logged six unusually active options in total that day, split evenly between puts and calls. Yahoo Finance said the company’s share volume rose to 23.7 million, 25% higher than the 30-day average, while options volume climbed 77% above that period.

For the specific Nov. 20 expiration set, Yahoo Finance said the four options expiring in 114 days accounted for 31% of overall unusual activity, with the $27 put taking the largest share of attention.
