EU orders Google to grant AI rivals more access on Android

The EU said the move targets concerns that Google could leverage its Android reach to benefit its AI offerings.

European Union regulators ordered Google to provide AI rivals with more access on Android smartphones, according to The New York Times Business.

The decision comes as regulators seek to address concerns that Google’s large Android user base could be used to gain an advantage in artificial intelligence.

The ruling is intended to reduce the risk that Google’s control over access on its platform could tilt competition toward its own AI products.
