US initial jobless claims decreased to 208,000 for the latest week, coming in below the 217,000 estimate, according to Forexlive.
The prior week’s figure was revised higher to 216,000. Forexlive also cited a lower 4-week moving average of initial claims at 214.3K versus 219.0K from the prior week.
Continuing claims were reported at 1.805 million, compared with 1.815 million expected, with the prior reading revised up to 1.821 million.
Forexlive said the drop in initial claims puts the figure back below the middle of its recent range and aligns with a strong labor market.
