New Zealand dollar rebounds as US dollar weakens
NZD/USD rose 0.4% to about 0.5610, after falling to a near April 2025 low around 0.5580.
The New Zealand dollar strengthened against the US dollar on Tuesday, with NZD/USD up 0.42% to around 0.5610. FXStreet said the rebound followed a slide to the pair's lowest level since April 2025 near 0.5580.
FXStreet attributed the move to a weaker US dollar, after the Greenback slipped from an 18-month high reached in the prior session. The US Dollar Index, which measures the dollar against a basket of six major currencies, had given back most of Monday's gains.
FXStreet also pointed to easing oil prices as supportive for the Kiwi. The outlet said softer crude helped reduce concerns about inflationary pressures in the United States ahead of key US CPI.
However, FXStreet noted the NZD's upside remained limited by geopolitical uncertainty, including ongoing Middle East tensions and the Russia Ukraine conflict that has kept risk aversion elevated. The outlet added that tensions intensified after a claim by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that Russia violated an energy ceasefire announced by US President Donald Trump.
