ZachXBT says hardware wallets are unreliable, targets Ledger

He criticized Ledger’s frequent Ledger Live updates, saying they can break basic wallet functions.

Crypto investigator ZachXBT sharply criticized hardware wallets, saying current solutions are unreliable for signing transactions or holding meaningful funds due to security and usability gaps.

In his view, hardware wallets are not suitable for high-stakes operations, and he instead recommends using a dedicated iPhone as a signing device with the phone stripped down to wallet functions only.

ZachXBT singled out Ledger, calling it the worst offender, and pointed to what he described as frequent Ledger Live updates that overhaul the user interface and apps, sometimes disrupting basic functions.

The post sparked debate across crypto social media, with users trading experiences about hardware wallet frustrations and reliability.
