China rejects Trump claims of election interference as fabricated

China said it has no interest in meddling in US domestic affairs and reiterated its non-interference principle, denying the allegations made during Trump’s election-data accusations.

China has sharply dismissed President Donald Trump’s allegations that Beijing interfered in US elections, calling the claims fabricated and groundless, according to statements reported by SCMP Economy.

In a Friday comment, foreign ministry spokesman Lin Jian said the allegations are “entirely fabricated, maliciously slanderous and have long been proven completely groundless,” mirroring China’s prior responses to similar accusations.

Trump, in a prime-time address on Thursday, accused Beijing of carrying out what he described as the “largest compromise of election data in history,” and alleged it tried to influence American business leaders and journalists to turn against him.

He also accused China of paying US journalists to publish negative articles about his administration during his first term, a charge Lin rejected while reiterating China’s principle of non-interference.
