Former FedEx CFO John Dietrich elected to American Airlines board
American Airlines said Dietrich brings 35 years of logistics and air cargo experience, and it highlighted cargo revenue of $839 million in 2025.
Former FedEx chief financial officer John Dietrich has been elected to the board of directors at American Airlines, the company said Wednesday.
Dietrich brings 35 years of leadership experience across logistics and air cargo, including nearly three years as FedEx CFO until his resignation on June 1 after the spin off of FedEx Freight into an independent, public company.
Before joining FedEx, Dietrich served as CEO of Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, an all cargo carrier and freighter leasing company. The article also notes that he helped steer Atlas Air’s 2023 sale to a consortium of private investors.
American Airlines Chairman Greg Smith said Dietrich’s experience and background in managing complex, capital intensive operations will enhance the board as the airline prioritizes long term performance and shareholder value. The article adds that American had cargo revenue of $839 million in 2025, up 4.3% from the prior year, and that Dietrich could support the airline’s cargo operations.
