Himax launches iToF depth decoder ICs for AI vision and robotics

The new HE Series iToF chips are designed to support up to 240 frames per second and include hardware-based low-latency processing plus noise reduction and temporal filtering.

Himax Technologies (NASDAQ: HIMX) has launched its HE Series indirect Time-of-Flight, or iToF, depth decoder ICs, aimed at improving 3D sensing for robotics, industrial automation, and AI vision, according to Yahoo Finance.

The company said the chips use a hardware-based architecture built for low-latency, high-precision processing, with support for up to 240 fps, and they add image enhancement features including noise reduction and temporal filtering to help maintain data accuracy in complex environments.

Himax also highlighted that the iToF line comes with SDKs and calibration tools to simplify system integration and speed development cycles for partners and developers.

Yahoo Finance noted that partner OFILM is already implementing the solution in advanced robotics applications, and that the HE-2 model integrates an RGB ISP and an edge AI neural processing unit for functions such as eye tracking and gesture recognition.
