Coca-Cola halts Fairlife dairy production after ransomware attack

The company told the SEC that ransomware affected Fairlife production systems across the United States, temporarily suspending operations indefinitely.

Coca-Cola said one of its dairy subsidiaries, Fairlife, was hacked and that it is shutting down production for the foreseeable future, citing ransomware that disrupted its systems. In a disclosure with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Coca-Cola said Fairlife production operations across the United States are temporarily suspended, with production systems impacted by the attack.

Fairlife sells ultra-filtered fat free, whole, and chocolate milk, and Coca-Cola described it as one of its major dairy brands, estimating Fairlife sales at about $4 billion in 2024. The company noted that ransomware incidents in food and beverage have produced lasting disruptions, pointing to past problems at companies including Arizona Beverages in 2019 and UNFI last year.
