Dunamu faces a sanctions process after Upbit hack, report says
South Korea’s current crypto law reportedly does not include direct sanction provisions for hacking or IT failures, leaving the potential severity unclear.
The Block reports that Dunamu, the parent company of South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Upbit, is facing a sanctions process nearly eight months after a reported $30 million hack.
The outlet notes that the severity of any sanctions remains unclear because South Korea’s current crypto law reportedly contains no direct sanction provisions tied to hacking or IT failures.
As a result, while the process is underway, the reported legal framework makes it difficult to assess what consequences could ultimately apply.
