Fidelity breach settlement claim deadline set for July 27, 2026

Eligible customers impacted by the Aug. 2024 incident can claim payments of up to $5,000, with a $2.5 million settlement fund and identity theft protection included.

Fidelity Investments is nearing a claim deadline for customers eligible for payments related to a data breach that exposed consumer information on its website, with August 2024-incident claimants needing to file by July 27, 2026, according to Yahoo Finance. The settlement is tied to court documents describing a targeted cybersecurity attack that occurred between Aug. 17 and Aug. 19, 2024.

The compromised data files included personal information for 77,099 people, including names, Social Security numbers, financial account information, and driver's license details. A class action also alleged Fidelity did not notify customers until early October 2024, while Fidelity has denied wrongdoing or liability but agreed to settle.

Under the agreement described by Yahoo Finance, Fidelity will establish a $2.5 million settlement fund that provides $100 cash payments to eligible claimants, subject to the number of claims filed. California residents can receive an additional $50 payment, and reimbursement for documented losses and fees is available up to $5,000, including credit report fees and costs for freezing, unfreezing, or monitoring credit.

The settlement further includes two years of identity theft protection and credit monitoring for each eligible member. Eligibility in the court-defined class is limited to U.S. citizens, and reimbursements require receipts, statements, or other written proof to support the claimed expenses.
