Numerai buys back $1.2M more NMR as assets near $700M
The latest buyback brings Numerai repurchases to $3.2M in under a year, with more than 1.1M NMR now staked across its network.
Numerai has completed a third strategic buyback of its NMR token, purchasing an additional $1.2 million of Numeraire as its crowdsourced hedge fund grows.
Yahoo Finance reports the company executed the repurchase through Coinbase Institutional at or near the bid price over several weeks to avoid abrupt pressure in a relatively thin market. The move lifts total NMR repurchases to $3.2 million in less than a year.
Numerai said NMR supports its global data science tournament, where participants stake the token behind machine learning predictions for equity-market forecasting. More than 1.1 million NMR is now staked across the network, and active accounts have more than doubled over the past year.
As the participation has expanded, Numerai now manages about $700 million, up from roughly $560 million at the end of 2025, and it trades more than $1 billion each month across 30 global markets. The buyback is intended to replenish the treasury used for tournament rewards and staking payouts, rather than permanently remove tokens from circulation.
