Zero-knowledge proofs could be key as AI agents erode trust online

Succinct Labs’ Brian Trunzo argues AI detection can be beaten, so stronger cryptographic verification is needed as autonomous agents act at scale.

CoinDesk argues the internet is entering a broader crisis of trust as AI-generated and AI-enabled content becomes harder to reliably verify.

The piece says AI detection efforts do not solve the underlying problem because attackers can exploit weaknesses, citing claims that accuracy can be pushed down to as low as 4% using basic blur and distortion.

It also describes how AI is moving beyond content generation into autonomous actions, including web browsing, purchases, publishing, and negotiations, with failure modes that can compound quickly when agents operate at scale.

According to CoinDesk, the solution is shifting toward cryptographic methods such as zero-knowledge proofs, with Succinct Labs chief growth officer Brian Trunzo framing math-based verification as more durable than detection alone.
