Bitmine cuts weekly ether buys, funds share buyback instead
Bitmine added 7,430 ETH, bringing holdings to about 5.78 million ETH, as it repurchased roughly 5.5 million shares at an average price of $15.62.
Bitmine sharply slowed its Ethereum purchases last week, adding 7,430 ETH worth about $14 million as it redirected capital to a share buyback program, according to a CoinDesk account of a company update.
The firm now holds about 5.78 million ETH, roughly 4.8% of Ethereum’s circulating supply, and it is nearing its goal of controlling 5% of the token supply. CoinDesk also noted the purchase was among the smallest weekly additions since Bitmine launched its Ethereum treasury strategy in June 2025.
CoinDesk said the reduced pace reflected Bitmine’s decision to repurchase approximately 5.5 million common shares at an average price of $15.62 under a previously authorized $4 billion buyback program.
Despite the slower buying, Bitmine continues to earn income from staking its ETH, with about 4.92 million ETH staked, representing roughly 85% of its holdings, and projected annualized staking revenue of about $247 million through its MAVAN staking platform.
