New Zealand Q2 CPI tops forecasts, lifting inflation to 4.1% y/y
The report showed stronger quarter-on-quarter prices at 1.5%, above expectations, including non-tradeables rising 3.4% y/y.
New Zealand’s Q2 inflation came in above expectations, with CPI rising 4.1% year over year versus the 4.0% forecast, according to Forexlive. The prior reading was 3.1%.
On a quarterly basis, CPI increased 1.5% quarter over quarter, ahead of the 1.4% estimate, after 0.9% previously.
The breakdown showed non-tradeables up 3.4% year over year and 0.6% quarter over quarter, while tradeables were up 2.7% quarter over quarter, the outlet said.
