QBE appoints Tay Siang Leng interim CEO of Wholesale Markets Asia
The interim role begins after Ronak Shah goes on garden leave until the end of September and Siang Leng will transition out of his CFO job during the assignment.
QBE Insurance Group Limited has appointed Tay Siang Leng as interim chief executive officer of Wholesale Markets Asia, according to Reinsurance News. He will report to Rob Kosova, CEO of QBE Asia.
Siang Leng, who has served as CFO for QBE Asia since 2019, succeeds Ronak Shah, who is on garden leave until the end of September before joining MSIG Asia as regional CEO. QBE said Siang Leng will assume day-to-day responsibilities in the Wholesale Markets Asia division and will transition out of his finance role during the period to ensure continuity for partners and customers.
The insurer described Siang Leng as having helped set up the Wholesale cluster, and noted his current board roles across multiple QBE entities. It also cited his prior experience including CFO roles at Allied World Assurance Company Limited and RSA Insurance in Singapore, plus earlier work in finance and insurance supervision in Singapore.
QBE said the leadership change aligns with its business transformation strategy for the region, centered on digitalisation, AI integration, and wholesale markets growth, supported by recent related appointments.
