Walmart pulls four Taylor Farms Marketside salads as recall expands

Walmart has removed four bagged iceberg lettuce salad products made by Taylor Farms, as recalls tied to a cyclosporiasis outbreak broaden, according to Insurance Journal. The items are sold under Walmart’s Marketside store brand at select locations.

Walmart said there are no confirmed illnesses linked to the specific products, and a spokeswoman said there is no indication that products currently sold in its stores are affected by the ongoing cyclospora investigations. The retailer removed the four products after receiving notice from a supplier.

The FDA said the recalled Marketside-brand iceberg products were sold in select Walmart stores in 15 states, and that a sample of lettuce from a Mexico farm tested positive for the parasite. Taylor Farms said the product is not part of its current recall and is working to determine whether any of the product is available to consumers.

The recall comes after Taylor Farms pulled products from a Mexico farm sent to 27 states, the article says. Cyclosporiasis cases have been reported in the US across 34 states, with Michigan recording more than 5,000 illnesses, the outlet added.
