FAA warns US airlines to exercise caution for Saudi flights

The FAA Notice to Airmen remains in effect until December 10, after strikes on Oct. 10 and Oct. 11 affected Riyadh’s international airport.

The US Federal Aviation Administration told US airlines to exercise caution when flying to or over Saudi Arabia, citing safety threats linked to ongoing military activity and navigation system interference, according to Insurance Journal.

The FAA’s Notice to Airmen, which follows strikes on Oct. 10 and Oct. 11 on Riyadh’s international airport, is set to run until December 10.

Insurance Journal also noted that the Saturday attack killed 13 people and wounded more than 300, and that Delta Air Lines is scheduled to begin direct flights to Riyadh on October 23 from Atlanta.

Insurance Journal said Delta did not respond to a request for comment, and that FedEx began its first dedicated flight into Saudi Arabia in September 2025 using a Boeing 777 freighter operating six times per week to Riyadh.
