CJP protests turn violent as activist Sonam Wangchuk continues fast
Wangchuk has been on an indefinite fast since June 28, and a Delhi High Court proposal would move him from Safdarjung Hospital to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram.
Cockroach Janata Party, or CJP, leaders staged a “Sansad Chalo” march to Parliament on Monday that turned into violent confrontations with police, according to LiveMint Markets. The report says the protest was expected to continue until the government addresses the group’s demands.
LiveMint Markets reports that CJP leaders cited demands including accountability over alleged examination irregularities, the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and justice for students affected by the NEET paper leak. Separately, activist Sonam Wangchuk has been on an indefinite hunger strike since June 28 and said it would continue unless the government accepts responsibility for failures in the education system or Parliament assures action on the issue.
The story adds that a Delhi High Court proposal would shift Wangchuk from Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, citing a PTI report.
