German ZEW sentiment steadies as July outlook improves

The ZEW July outlook rose to 26.3 versus 17.5 expected, while uncertainty tied to the Iran conflict and oil prices remains a key risk.

Forexlive reports that Germany’s ZEW survey showed a modest rebound in economic sentiment for July, though current conditions were still weak.

The July current conditions reading came in at -77.6, versus -77.8 expected, after a prior reading of -81.0.

The outlook improved more clearly, with the July economic outlook at 26.3 versus 17.5 expected, up from 10.5 previously.

Forexlive noted that the backdrop for recovery remains constrained by uncertainty around the Iran conflict and oil prices, and it highlighted that lingering questions over the economic and inflation outlook could persist closer to Q4 2026 if tensions continue.
