BitGo and OTC Markets plan broker-dealer access to tokenized securities

The plan would support more than 150 broker-dealers via OTC Link ATS, using BitGo Bank & Trust as qualified custodian and settlement through BitGo’s Go Network.

BitGo and OTC Markets Group plan a partnership to help broker-dealers trade and settle tokenized digital asset securities using existing US market infrastructure. Cointelegraph reports the companies are targeting OTC Link ATS, an SEC-regulated alternative trading system, to broaden institutional access to digital asset securities.

Under the proposal, broker-dealers would be able to quote, trade, and settle digital asset securities on the same electronic trading infrastructure they use for over-the-counter and US equity markets. BitGo Bank & Trust would serve as the qualified custodian, while settlement would be facilitated through BitGo’s Go Network.

The framework is initially intended for digital asset securities, with a potential path to expand to tokenized assets and commodities as regulation evolves. Cointelegraph notes the announcement comes as traditional financial institutions increasingly explore tokenized versions of real-world assets.

In related context, Cointelegraph says BitGo received final approval in December from the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to operate as a federally chartered national trust bank, enabling qualified custody services under federal banking oversight. The outlet also reports OTC Markets Group’s shares rose about 2.7% by midday on Wednesday to $53.50, on thin volume.
