Fairshake-linked PAC spends about $1M in Michigan 13th race primary

Protect Progress PAC reported spending over $986,000 on ads supporting incumbent Shri Thanedar and opposing Donavan McKinney ahead of the Aug. 4 primary.

Cointelegraph reports that a Fairshake-linked crypto-aligned political action committee is spending close to $1 million to influence voters in Michigan’s 13th congressional district Democratic primary.

In filings with the US Federal Election Commission, the Protect Progress PAC reported spending more than $986,000 on ads supportive of Democratic incumbent Shri Thanedar and opposing his challenger, Donavan McKinney, with the candidates set to face off on Aug. 4.

The reported media push comes about two weeks before the primary and mirrors Protect Progress’ 2024 activity, when it also spent roughly $1 million supporting Thanedar.

Cointelegraph adds that McKinney said the crypto lobby is paying back his opponent for helping Trump, and that Fairshake and its affiliates have reported a combined $191 million war chest for potential election influence.
