Jim Cramer defends holding Apple and NVIDIA as China data concerns rise
Cramer argued NVIDIA has been “stuck” in part due to lower China sales, and said national security concerns should limit deeper exposure to Chinese customers.
Yahoo Finance reports that during Jim Cramer’s Mad Money episode on Tuesday, the host reiterated his long-term stance that investors should own major technology leaders like Apple and NVIDIA through cycles rather than trade them for short-term gains.
Cramer said Apple’s stock has advanced, while NVIDIA’s stock is “stuck for the moment,” linking the divergence to the company’s China exposure and claiming NVIDIA sells less in China than it otherwise could.
He defended his Charitable Trust holdings by calling the two companies unmatched in quality and profitability, and he suggested Apple’s brand could help it pass along higher memory costs to telco carriers while benefiting from broader AI-related spending.
On NVIDIA specifically, Cramer said his earlier view that it could be the chip of choice for China became controversial, and he argued that, once NVIDIA faced barriers in China, further data access by Chinese parties would raise national security concerns.
