OKX adds Andrew Cuomo to board as ICE tokenization push advances

OKX says Cuomo’s role builds on an ICE-led joint venture that plans to register as a broker-dealer and futures commission merchant once regulators approve, potentially linking OKX users to ICE futures and tokenized NYSE equities.

OKX added former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to its board of directors, describing it as a continuation of his advisory work over the past two years. The move also ties into Cuomo’s position as co-chair of a joint venture between OKX and Intercontinental Exchange, operator of the New York Stock Exchange.

According to CryptoSlate, the OKX-ICE venture is building infrastructure aimed at tokenized assets, institutional derivatives, and around the clock trading. The venture plans to register as a broker-dealer and futures commission merchant once regulators approve, which would enable OKX customers to access ICE futures as well as tokenized NYSE equities.

The report also notes that ICE already has a board seat at OKX from an earlier investment that valued the exchange at $25 billion, effectively extending the relationship through regulated financial governance. It frames the combined board appointment and ICE partnership as part of a push to assemble licenses, partners, and governance commonly associated with traditional regulated market operators.

CryptoSlate links the move to broader market momentum, citing data that tokenized assets became the top new listing category on major centralized exchanges in the first half of 2026, at close to one in five new listings. It also says real-world-asset perpetual futures volume rose 57% in June to a record $311 billion, with a capital base behind the growth topping $330 billion, mostly in stablecoins.
