SCOR appoints Laurent Sabatié to lead natural catastrophe risks

Sabatié will be responsible for refining SCOR’s natural catastrophe risk view and model usage, while integrating climate and emerging risks into underwriting and portfolio decisions.

SCOR, the French-based global reinsurance group, has appointed Laurent Sabatié as Head of Natural Catastrophe Risks in a London-based role.

In the position, Sabatié will help strengthen SCOR’s capabilities in natural catastrophe risk, including refining the company’s view of risk, advancing its modelling capabilities, and improving governance and model usage.

SCOR said the role will also focus on integrating climate and emerging risk perspectives into underwriting and portfolio management decisions, alongside leading the company’s natural catastrophe teams and research and development efforts.

Sabatié brings close to two decades of experience in the re/insurance industry and the London market, with prior senior roles at AIG and ProSight and experience as co-founder of Skyline Partners, where he developed Nat Cat analytics platforms and helped structure catastrophe risk transfer solutions.
