Cipla Q1 profit drops 39% year over year as revenue rises

Cipla said its US business generated $162 million revenue in the quarter, while revenue from product sales increased to ₹7,077.0 crore.

Cipla reported a 39.2% year over year decline in consolidated profit for the April to June quarter, with Q1FY27 profit falling to ₹789.05 crore, according to LiveMint Markets. On a quarter over quarter basis, profit rose 42.3% from ₹554.64 crore in Q4FY26.

Revenue from the sale of products grew 3.5% year over year and 9.5% quarter over quarter to ₹7,077.02 crore. The company also reported EBITDA declining 33% to ₹1,192 crore, while its EBITDA margin fell to 16.7% from 25.6% a year earlier.

Cipla said it delivered global revenues of ₹7,119 crore in the quarter, with its One-India business growing 12% year over year. The company noted branded prescription and trade generics performance, and said its US business posted revenue of $162 million during the quarter.

In its outlook comments, Cipla said it expects continued sequential growth in North America, supported by its upcoming product pipeline, and highlighted ongoing growth in South Africa and continued expansion in Emerging Markets and Europe. The company also pointed to focus areas including key market growth, flagship brands, future pipeline investment, and regulatory resolutions.
