CME says institutional demand is muted for perpetual futures

CME Group is prepared to launch perpetual futures if broader demand develops, but Chief Executive Officer Terry Duffy said the exchange is not currently seeing interest from its core institutional customer base, according to a report by Bloomberg.

Hedgeweek reports that the comments suggest CME views perpetual futures as something that would depend on demand signals before moving forward, even though the exchange remains open to the product line.
