Fake Vladhood memecoin collected fees after Robinhood CEO X account hack
Onchain data shows the token was launched before the hacked post and its creator claimed trading fees through a liquidity locker without pulling liquidity.
Robinhood confirmed that CEO Vlad Tenev’s X account was compromised on Thursday and used to promote a fake memecoin on Robinhood Chain, with the company saying the post was removed and that it was working with X to restore access. According to The Defiant, onchain records indicate the scam operation was set in motion hours earlier rather than being an opportunistic follow-on to the hack.
The fake token, called Vladhood (VLAD), later drew more than $22 million in trading volume and about 85,000 swaps in its main Uniswap pool in the hours after the promotion appeared, DexScreener data cited by The Defiant shows. As of 3:55 pm ET, it was trading around $0.0026, with a fully diluted valuation of roughly $2.6 million, down about 20% over the prior hour but still up more than 90,000% from launch.
The contract recorded 5,266 holders and over 137,000 transfers on Robinhood Chain’s block explorer, which has labeled it a scam, per The Defiant. The wallet behind Vladhood, labeled 0xD706…438D on block explorers, was created for the occasion and received its only funding, 0.2955 ETH, at 11:25 am ET from a wallet identified as a solver for Relay, a cross-chain bridging service.
The Defiant reports that the wallet launched Vladhood at 12:38 pm ET via Pons, a Pump.fun-style launchpad, and that the fraudulent X promotion went up about 46 minutes later, linking the hack and token launch in a coordinated timeline. It also says the creator did not need to pull liquidity, because Pons locks liquidity while letting creators claim trading fees, and starting seven minutes after the fake post the fee-collection function was called multiple times over roughly two hours, netting about 31.6 ETH and roughly 72 million VLAD, about 7% of supply.
