Hong Kong and Guangdong hold training on cross-border loan guarantees
The three-day course focused on loan guarantees and securities, including charges under Hong Kong's Companies Ordinance.
Hong Kong’s legal community and Guangdong’s courts have convened a joint training course aimed at improving understanding of cross-border commercial law issues under the “one country, two systems” framework, according to SCMP Economy.
The event was co-organised by the High People’s Court of Guangdong Province, the Guangdong Judicial Training College, the Hong Kong Department of Justice, and the Hong Kong International Legal Talents Training Academy, and drew more than 100 attendees, largely judges from the Greater Bay Area.
Organisers said the course was specifically designed to address disputes arising from growing cross-border economic and commercial activity, which often involves both Hong Kong and mainland Chinese law.
The training ran for three days on guarantees and securities for loans, a topic chosen for its frequent appearance in real disputes, and included sessions on several types of guarantees and security interests, with a talk on charges under the Companies Ordinance.
