Robinhood CEO’s X account hacked to promote fake Vladhood token

Robinhood said the post falsely claimed a memecoin listing in the Robinhood app, and it was removed after the account was restored.

CoinDesk reports Robinhood said its CEO Vlad Tenev’s X account was hacked on Thursday and used to promote a fake memecoin called Vladhood, or $VLAD, during a memecoin surge.

The fraudulent post, now deleted, described the token as the “official Robinhood chain mascot,” falsely claimed it would be listed in the Robinhood app, and included a blockchain wallet address before being taken down.

CoinDesk also notes the incident comes as Robinhood’s newly launched blockchain network has rapidly drawn activity. The network has attracted more than $700 million in assets and surpassed 300,000 daily active addresses, with roughly 10 million transactions in a single day, according to a Dune dashboard created by Entropy Advisors.

Robinhood said it was working with X to restore access to the account after the compromised promotion was posted and removed.
