Munich Re reports about €2.2bn net profit in preliminary Q2 2026 figures

The reinsurer said first-half net profit was about €3.9 billion and it remains on track for its €6.3 billion full-year target.

Munich Re said its preliminary figures show net profit of approximately €2.2 billion for Q2 2026, citing strong operational performance across the group and very low major-loss expenditure in its property and casualty reinsurance business, according to Reinsurance News.

Combined with the preliminary Q2 result, Munich Re reported first-half net profit of approximately €3.9 billion, and reaffirmed that it remains firmly on track to achieve its full-year 2026 net profit target of €6.3 billion, even as market speculation has circulated about a potential guidance revision amid a soft reinsurance market.

The company also pointed to a very strong investment result as a contributor to ERGO, its primary insurance subsidiary, which reported exceptional net earnings of approximately €0.3 billion included in the preliminary numbers.

Munich Re said it will publish its full results for Q2 2026 as scheduled on 7 August 2026.
