SEC to hold September roundtable on moving US equities toward 24-hour trading
The SEC said the Sept. 17 roundtable will cover preparations for overnight trading, including operations and market resiliency.
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission will host a public roundtable in September to discuss moving US equity markets toward 24-hour trading, including the operational readiness needed for overnight sessions, according to Cointelegraph.
SEC Chair Paul Atkins said the regulator is moving toward a new day and night in US equity markets, and the meeting is scheduled for Sept. 17 at the SEC headquarters in Washington, DC.
The SEC said the discussion will focus on preparations to support overnight trading, along with operations and resiliency in a 24-hour market.
Cointelegraph also notes the push comes as more global exchanges offer or plan near-24-hour trading, while retail investors already have round-the-clock access via cryptocurrency exchanges, with the London Stock Exchange reportedly planning a night-time trading venue in early 2027.
