Nebius shares jump after Nvidia discloses a 9.3% stake
The stake stems from Nvidia’s previously announced $2 billion strategic investment, which also supports a planned buildout of more than 5 gigawatts of Nvidia-powered AI systems by 2030.
Nebius Group N.V. shares rallied more than 18% on July 21 after Nvidia Corporation disclosed a 9.3% beneficial ownership stake in the AI cloud infrastructure company, according to Yahoo Finance. The disclosure related to Nvidia’s earlier announced $2 billion strategic investment in Nebius, which the report says boosted investor confidence in the companies’ AI infrastructure partnership.
The two firms have agreed to collaborate on next-generation AI cloud infrastructure, and Nebius is expected to deploy more than 5 gigawatts of Nvidia-powered AI systems by 2030. The report also notes that Nebius could gain earlier access to Nvidia’s next-generation hardware and tighter engineering collaboration, which can be attractive to enterprise customers seeking close Nvidia partnerships.
Nebius is already building out its customer base and capacity, the report says, citing a $17 billion deal with Microsoft and an expanded up to $27 billion arrangement with Meta Platforms for AI infrastructure in the US. It also entered a senior secured debt facility for approximately $775 million, with proceeds intended to accelerate development of its full-stack AI cloud platform.
Analyst coverage highlighted in the report includes Northland, which echoed Nebius’s secured debt financing with an Outperform rating and a price target increase to $410 from $248. The article also frames Nebius as being valued like a high-growth AI infrastructure company, making the stock more sensitive to any slowdown in AI spending.
